Maha Shivaratri March 2011
By Ani and Amma
On MahaShivaratri, we went to the temple and did abhishekam to the ShivaLingam there.
Then on Sunday, we went to the temple for our Gurukulam classes and we had a MahaShivaratri celebration.
I sang "Namah Parvati Pateya Hara Hara" with my class on stage and Divya sang "Hey Murali Sridhara Radhe Krishna Radhe Shyam" with her class on the stage.
We wore our gudi dress and enjoyed the day!
What did you do for Shivaratri?

Exploring at University of Texas at Austin
Last weekend, we went to the University of Texas at Austin Explore Day.
The University is very big and you can study and become doctors or engineers or Presidents if you study there.
There are lots of buildings and you can walk from 1 place to another.
We went to one building and did lot of kid crafts like making crowns and flags.
I made a pirate hat with feathers and an African drum and a Venezuelan block print napkin and Indian and French flags.
Divya made all these and a silver crown also.
I had my face painted with a mustache and beard.
Divya got butterflies and flowers.
I also took a picture with George Washington - he was the 1st President of USA.
Thousands of people came to see the University.
At the end, we saw and marched with UT Austin's marching band.
I want to go again next year.

My Family Tree

For a project at my school about my family, we made a family tree.
Here is a picture:
left-side are my Tatayya and Bamma, above is my Nanna.
right-side are my Tatagaru and Ammamma and above is my Amma.
On the tree top are me (Ani) and Divya.
My mother cut the tree and grass from paper.
I put this in my room now so we can look at the pictures everyday.

Ani's Valentine Party

I had a Valentine Party in my classroom on February 14th at 1:30 PM afternoon.
My mother also came to my party.
We decorated a heart cookie with sprinkles and icing and then ate them up.
I gave my friends Valentine cards with cowboys because I am a Texan.
Some girls I gave froggy cards also.
I gave my teacher a special card with a fun doggy on it.
We decorated a paper bag with glitter glue and stickers to be our mailbox and we went to each mailbox to put cards in it.
I got lot of nice cards from my friends and my favorite was an iPhone Valentine from my friend John Manford.
It was a fun party and we ate lot of candy.
In my pictures, you can also that see we sit on bouncy yoga balls and not chairs. Our class is special.

We had strawberry and vanilla and chocolate icecream and syrup and sprinkles and cherries.
My Amma came to my party.
We had a mailbox full of lots of valentines, gifts and candy.
I also gave princess and froggy valentines to all my friends and a doggy valentine to my teacher because she loves dogs and she has 2 dogs.
My classroom is so pretty and the party was the most fun.
My Amma says that my class is Kindergarten heaven. :-)

I and Divya (who is my sister) both got new glasses.
I had a test in school and my school nurse sent a letter to my mom.
Then we went to an eye doctor to get a test done and Divya also had her test done.
It took too long and we waited and waited.
We saw a movie there called Monsters vs Aliens and it was animashion about a g
irl that becomes blown up into a big monster size and she meets other animals that talk and things like that.
It was so boring! Worst boring movie!
Finally, after the test, next day we went to get glasses.
Here are pictures of us in our new glasses.
I wear them everyday now except when I go to KungFu and Skating or when I am sleeping.
My mother makes me take them off for KungFu and Skating because one day we went to Skating and then we were playing in the PlayCenter. Someone bumped into Divya and her glasses scratched her face.
She got a little blood and we came home then.
But they didnt bump her on purpose and they did it accidentaly.
