Hello, friends and artists! I would like to tell you about
an artist named Leonardo Da Vinci. He was born on April 15, 1452, in the region
of Tuscany in Italy. He lived from 1452 to 1519 and was a great artist, writer,
scientist and sculpture maker.
I chose
Leonardo da Vinci because he was one of the most famous and brilliant artists
of all times. His style of art was called Renaissance art. As he was also a scientist,
his drawings looked very real. Another great artist of Leonardo da Vinci’s time
was Michelangelo. Michelangelo was also
a Renaissance artist and he was excellent at drawing human figures and
sculpture. The difference between the two was that Leonardo da Vinci was more
interested in science and drew realistic figures while Michelangelo drew more
artistic figures like Gods.
The
greatest painting by Leonardo da Vinci is the “Mona Lisa”. It is also one of
the most famous paintings in the world. “Mona Lisa” was painted using oils on a
poplar panel. Leonardo Da Vinci used a pyramid design to put the lady in the
painting. Her folded hands form the front corner of the pyramid. The rest of
the painting, like the background and her clothes are dark, while “Mona Lisa”
is white and so it is very easy to notice her face. The painting is also very
famous for the lady’s smile because she seems to be looking at you directly.
When I
look at Mona Lisa, I feel like she is very mysterious. I really feel that if he
painted a portrait of me it would look just like me. I thought he was a brilliant
artist after I learned about the Mona Lisa and how brilliantly he painted it.
